Barry started studying piano at age 10 and saxophone at age 13. Throughout high school and college he was a student of Bob Soder, Leonard Walker and Frank Sumares. Barry has played in bands with Jon Faddis, Marc Russo, Michael Zisman, Madeline Eastman, Joe Gillman and Armen Boyd as well as in backup bands featuring Tom Scott, Vince Denham and Joe Williams.

As a performer, founder and leader of such groups as the Concord Jazz Workshop, The Players Five, Jazz Express, the Generation Gap and City Limit, he has pleased listening audiences throughout northern California for over 35 years. An Amador County resident for 20 years, Barry has played with The Heat (rock/originals), The TomCats (jazz and pop), The Leather Souls (blues), Pueblo Rooftop (latin rock), Bobby D's Blues Organ_ization (soul jazz), Second Wind (doo-wop), Ted Marr's Band of Gold (swing), the Speakeazy Jazz Orchestra as well as his own jazz combos: The Duncan / Weller Jazz duo, Main Street Jazz Company and The Tri-Tone Subs (with pianist Joe Bellamy). Barry is a frequent guest of other local bands such as Wingnut Adams, Electra Road, Mitch Kaye and The Debbie Smith Band. He has also recorded for Kate Hamon, Brenda Grimaldi, Bobby D, Adam Gottstein, Second Wind and Pueblo Rooftop.

"It's a gas having met up with the Chambers brothers," says Duncan. "I dig playing the 20's charts and I'm honored to have been invited to participate."

Barry is a member of the Board of Directors of the Argonaut Breakfast Lions and the Amador County Arts Council. He and his wife Sue own and operate Mother Lode Printing in Jackson.
